Logo
How this became this

As they say, you can't tell the players without a logo. Or, a company without a logo is like a day without sunshine. Or, you can't, well, whatever they say about logos, I decided on this one.

The original one, going back, was like this:

But then, I realized that online, it doesn't read well. This was based on an old pen & ink drawing I found of a pillow. This also had some nice typography. I tried to reduce the line art detail & it still didn't read well online.

But then I always had this idea of a stylized pillow. The essence of a pillow. The very sleepiness of coolness. The shape & the pinched corners. Even though pillows don't really have those little round shapes on the corners.

Then I drew these shapes of what I was after.

Uh, no. Something about this said: "I just drew these on a napkin. Sometimes sketches on napkins can look cool. These looked like bad sketches on napkins. Good for wiping your mouth with and throwing out.

But I had the idea and by then, I got this breakthrough using Freehand. I started to play around with the shape as drawn not by hand, but almost. This eventually took various forms, see below, and the final cool pillows starts to appear.

Here you can start to see the variations and the ultimate references that occur in the borders around the pages in the top, bottom, left & right. All of these are variations on the basic pillow design.
